The CEO Mark Zuckerberg sits at a desk just like the rest of the employees. This description follows very closely to the “Net Generation” and their views of a job according to Tapscott’s book. I found the beginning statement referring to Facebook as “an addictive waste of time” interesting. That is my view about Facebook. I simply do not have free time to spend reading about friends’ daily activities. It was very interesting to learn that Facebook is a great threat to Google and many people now search Facebook for answers to questions rather than searching Google. It’s amazing that Zuckerberg turned down a $1 billion dollar offer from Yahoo, and that now Facebook may be worth billions more than that.
Even though Facebook has been an amazing creation by such a young man. The company has had to overcome some hardships including the creation of Beacon, which nearly led to the destruction of Facebook. Beacon followed the purchases of its Facebook members and sent an update to all that member’s friends alerting them of those purchases. Zuckerberg eventually apologized for this error and reprogrammed Beacon. At the time of this video, there had been a lawsuit filed by upperclassman regarding the creation of Facebook. Zuckerberg’s age may be a disadvantage as well….time will tell.
